Folks, anyone using Storage Spaces that could answer a couple of questions please?

Can I have a three disk mirror (as in three 4TB drives so mirrored files are balanced between them, like the old driver extender in WHS used to do?) This means a mirror could be larger than 4TB in size
If the OS crashes and need to be reinstalled can I just have the drives plugged and will the new install recognise a storage pool/drive?
In terms of performance is it similar, better or worse than just having the old software mirror?

1. You could do a 3 disk raid 5 style array which will give you space striped across three disks and some redundancy.
2. That is the case in my experience. I had a test array set up in a server formatted with REFS. After we had finished with it, I plugged one of the disks into my windows 8 desktop to format it and it brought up a message box asking for me to plug the rest of the drives in so it could build the array again.
3. I would suggest it is about as fast as a similarly configured software raid. Copying to the server disk array over a gig network was almost as fast as copying to a local SATA drive on my old desktop.

Thanks. Another questions then: can I create a virtual disk with one drive, then add more drives to the pool and change from single drive to RAID 1 (mirror) for example? Or do I have to create as RAID 1 from the start?
