I've been trying to install windows updates on my PC for the last 2-3 months and every time I try to install them it gets about a quarter? of the way through, then I get an error message saying Windows Modular has stopped working.... and it stops and won't continue installing the updates...
I've tried installing just 1 update at a time, but nothing happens.
My computer is painfully slow now and I'd like to get these updates installed for piece of mind.

So what exactly is windows modular? what does it do? and how can I over come this problem so I can install the updates?

any advice would be very helpful!

freitasm: Or Windows Modules Installer?

The error message definitely says "Wondows Modular has stopped working" and I don't know what Windows Modular is or what it does...

OnceBitten: ... thanks for that - I think we have windows vista home premium from memory

You have my sympathy - a truly dreadful operating system that MS are trying to forget. :)
Upgrade to Windows 7 if you possibly can (not Windows 8).
