Ever since the windows recycle bin was introduced something has bugged me.

As soon as one small file enters the bin the icon shows a bin full of paper, this bugs me. I feel the icon needs to represent the amount of rubbish in the bin.
Because the icon appears full I feel the strong urge to empty the stupid thing, sometimes it only has one small file in it and I've then wasted another windows bin liner :(

I like to keep my bins empty and things tidy on my PC (doesn't always work).

Maybe I just need to be less obsessive? (Yes, even numbers on TV or radio volume etc etc)

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

I will rephrase that...

"I like to keep my subforums organised and things tidy on my site (doesn't always work)."

That's why I moved YOUR topic to the correct forum.

I put it in off topic because I felt it was not worthy of a 'topic'. It was just a light hearted Monday morning babble. cool

can that not happen in the windows forum?

what happens if there is a 1kb files in there and your recycle bins total size is in the GB's? it wouldn't even register as having anything on it.

there are greater and more important things in life to worry about

so the fact that it shows "paper" doesn't bug you?  that's hardly a realistic representation of what is inside either :P

oh, and lets not forget the classical UX paradigm of dragging your floppy discs, cd's and external hard disks to the trash in MacOS to *eject* them rather than trash them
