Title says it all. It's a 22.5MB update, the update never completes as far as I can tell - I gave it ten mins. I tried in safe mode, tried the separate download, does the same thing. Any ideas?

Win 7, otherwise up to date. I solved the problem by disabling windows defender, I have Avast! installed anyway.

It completely stuffed my XP install until I totally uninstalled MSE. Now have to look for an alternative there.

All Win 7 versions are ok.

I don't have MSE, just windows defender, which is disabled. Avast! free seems decent.

Avast free scores well on av tests. I've got it on a Win 7 desktop and Win 8.1 laptop. AVG was blocking my email sync with Outlook completely for some reason- it was easier to switch than troubleshoot.
