Acer Aspire V5/Windows 8.1
Windows did an update last night, not sure if its connected but my laptop won't boot into Windows this morning. It runs an auto repair that fails to repair then I get options to refresh or reset.
Refresh option says the drive where Windows is installed is locked, unlock drive and try again.???
Reset option says unable to reset, a required drive partition is missing.
I can get into a command prompt X:\windows\system32 but don't know where to go from there.
Any suggestions on what to try? I don't have a recovery disk for it.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Try this

chkdsk C: /f /r /x

If that doesn't work you might need to do a reinstall from that menu.
