What I would like to do is get the "Show what I'm listening to" working again.

I have not done anything afaik tostop it from working, but it has.

Both of the setting are enabled in WMP and WLM.

Does anyone have an idea of how to get it working?

I have tried repairing WLM and that did not help, and I have been told that I cannot repair/unintsall WMP in vista. I had a look and could not find anything within Vista to prove this otherwise.

In Windows Media Player:
Click the drop-down below [Now Playing]
Plug-ins >> Other >> Windows Live Messenger Music Plugin (tick)

In Windows Live Messenger:
Click the drop-down beside <Enter a personal message>
(tick) Show what I'm listening to

Sorry but that does not work.

There is no option called other, or a plugin called Windows Live Messenger Music Plugin.

The only plugin that looks similar is called "now playing". And that does not seem to do anything.

Open 'Options' for Windows Media Player
Click the Plug-ins tab

You will see

Visualization
Now Playing
Window
Background

etc.

The Windows Live Messenger Music Plugin should be listed in Background.
If not, something has gone astray.

If you use the 64bit Media Player then the plugin will not work. If you use 32bit Media Player it will work. Simple.

I uninstalled Windows Live Messenger from my PC, which removed the plugin from Windows Media Player.
The plugin is definitely part of the Messenger installer.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling WLM and that did not help, I will try forcing it to run in 32bit mode now.

A 32bit plugin wont work on a 64bit program, when you think of how many people use 64bit it's not really worth the time to create a 64bit version of WLM yet

Running Windows Vista Ultimate + WMP11 + Live Messenger 8.1 Build 8.1.0178.00 and the plug-in works good here. Not sure about 64 bit though...as bradstewart says, there aren't many 64 bit users...I have to find at least one amongst my friends yet :D
