I'm using version 8.0.1226, which is the latest version from the Microsoft Connect site, and am now getting this error on both my email accounts...
Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. There is an error synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your account has been configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the web. Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v1.0.0/sync.aspx', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Client is requesting a deprecated version of the service. User should upgrade to the newest version of the client', Port: 80, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 4109, Error Number: 0x8DE00002

This is been flagged by a number of others on Connect but has anyone else had this issue (or found a newer version elsewhere)?

That fixed it!  Seeing as I downloaded from Connect only a week ago, you'd think they'd have the more current version there Yell

Cheers zion!

Update: I emailed Microsoft and queried the older version on MS Connect.  Their response...

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Connect Help (mchelp@microsoft.com) and for your interest in testing Microsoft products!

We have been informed that the WLMD beta program on Microsoft Connect is closing. That team has asked us to direct their customers to support.live.com.

Gary
Microsoft Connect Help Team

Don't know if it's my IP or something, but I've never seen any mention of WLMD on Live.

Windows Live is a complete mess. Most of the information there is only shown to US-based browsers.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was due for imminent release, as the beta period has been active for some time and I had noticed that they'd gone through and closed off a swathe of bug reports and suggestions on the 14th of August. The current product seems pretty stable, so would likely only have needed a few minor updates to polish it off.

Why Windows Live Mail is due for imminent release:
  • The WLM page on Connect has just been discontinued
  • There has been an announcement that the Windows Live Installer is due for release this week
  • Photos have been uploaded to the Morethanmail blog site that show features not available in the current version (such as customisation of the toolbar).

Don't you hate when they add new features after the last beta version and don't release for testing? If this is true then it's a bunch of new code that wasn't tested...

It comes up as Windows Live Mail Beta Version 2008 (Build 12.0.1365). A number of changes immediately noticeable from 12.0.1184.

There was an article on Slashdot that suggested Windows Live was going to be tied into Vista. Who knows, maybe you'll be able to get it via Windows Update soon.

P.S. Never used Windows Live, just something I read. Here's the original article - http://www.itworld.com/Comp/2218/070905mslivesvcs/index.html
