Anyone else notice the US store has good deals on phones and SP3 vs the NZ store?

$50 gift voucher (NZ) vs $150 off SP3 (US).

To be honest I'm used to it now because all the vendors pretty much do it - I wish there was some way to force vendors to offer the same deals in NZ as they offer in the US but I doubt it would ever gain political steam.

Try Google with 'Ed Husic price gouging'.  Ed is an Oz MP who took on the likes of Microsoft, Apple and Adobe regards the huge difference in price between America and the rest of the world, although Ed was focusing on Oz and NZ.  It took several years, but he has had some positive results.  It used to cost 50% more for Adobe products here, but we now pay almost exactly the same.

Email Ed with examples — I would hope he still has a head of steam over the issues.  Adobe's price gouging used to drive me crazy, so I've sent him a couple of emails and got nice replies both times.

[EDIT]  typo - I hit the 8 when aiming at the 5.

We still don't have windows phones in the Microsoft Store - but we do want to see them there ourselves!

The Surface Pro 3 in the NZ Store now has a $125 discount loaded until Jan 4th 2015.  The US Store currently has a $100 promo code (not discount) and free sleeve - the deal mentioned above was a one-off only for black Friday.

no wonder apple has success with the iphone - they like selling the device to customers via a website they create

same cant be said for google and microsoft locally.

one day they will learn.

I'm sure they could, if they wanted to. Google, MS, Apple...none of them care overly for the NZ market - it's just not lucrative enough, so they don't put in any effort.

At least you can buy an iphone/idevice from the apple.co.nz store and there is a range of cases/accessories for the idevice you buy. as said earlier in the forum, ms nz dont even have phone cases available.

Samsung has also lifted their game lately they have most devices and all accessories available on the NZ website.

Yeah, but I don't really see the need to be buying direct from the manufacturer in most cases...you're not going to get a better deal. Not here in NZ. At least Google are straight up not even bothering to give us access to devices through the Play Store... Seems the most honest treatment to me "hey, we can't/won't give you any better a deal than you'd get from someone else so we won't even bother"

I'm quite sure in the case of the Nexus 4 and 5 Google Play Store would have been far cheaper than the rip off retail prices we were charged here..  But Google treats us as a tech 3rd world country..

right now we rely on Telco and retailers in NZ to sell accessories.  We want to make this easier, but nothing to announce today

FWIW For my Galaxy Note 4 S View Case I ordered at launch, I was surprised to find it took 9 weeks to arrive and disappointed that I wasn't told of the delay when I ordered, and that my credit card was billed immediately
