Ok so here are the problems:

1. Occasionally you will type in an address (www.ebay.com for example) and it comes up with a cannot find server message. This happens with a number of sites (it varies each time) and usually restarting the laptop 2-5 times will eventually solve the problem and you can get access to the site.
2. You will type in an address and it will take you to a completely different site (this used to happen often but hasnt happened as often as it used to)
3. Computer has crashed twice in the last month
4. Pictures wont load on sites at times (just get the red crosses)

I have spybot and eusing registry cleaner installed, scan both daily. Laptop also has NOD installed however im not sure its working properly.

I think those are the main problems....if i think of anything else i will post. Its running Windows XP Home.

Laptop processing speed has also slowed down alot over the past few months.

Any ideas as to what it is? I really want to avoid having to reinstall windows if possible.

Either this or the DNS server you are using is overloaded or not responding to requests in timely manner...

Thanks for the reply, i do recall an IT friend talking me through a DNS flush awhile back which fixed the problems temporarily. Any suggestions if its either spyware or the DNS server?
