I have a 2010-model Vaio in mint condition, running Windows 7 Pro (x64) with fully updated drivers, including graphics drivers.

Following yesterday's MS updates, my screen resolution fell from 1600x900 to 800x600

The Device Manager shows a warning triangle on: Display Adapters > Intel HD Graphics

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

NVIDIA GeForce GT330M - "This device is working properly."

A system restore fixed the problem.
I have blocked further MS updates as a holding measure.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Had an issue with the new AMD drivers black screening my PC, and removing KB3004394 fixed it. Plenty of other issues appear to be popping up with that patch so try removing it and seeing if that's the issue.

I did a system restore to before the 10 December updates, which fixed the problem, and then re-installed the updates one by one.

The offending update was : Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3014406)  <<<  the screen resolution problem recurred.
