Today I just noticed that a folder I called Pictures that I had in my Onedrive (that had sub-folders with all my photos in it) now just contains one folder which is called Camera Roll and is a sync from the Onedrive app that I have on my iphone.
I have never had an iphone before and only had this for a couple of weeks so I don't know if I have done something playing around with the app/phone a few times. I certainly don't remember deleting the folder accidentally and if I did it should be in my recycle bin which it is NOT, and if I had deleted it don't remember cleaning out my recycle bin!
Have I stuffed something up fatally and lost all my photos from over the years? Is there anyway they can be recovered or Microsoft can recover for me?
Any suggestions would be very welcome, its pretty depressing.

Tks

Dont think the app would have deleted them, not automatically anyway.

If you log into OneDrive via your computer, the folder is def gone ?

Remember OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox are not backup solutions. I have all my files on OneDrive/laptop but also on Crashplan and my NAS.

Backup, backup, backup. Three times.

A backup is not a backup unless the item in question is in 2 locations.

When did you last see the files? Use system restore to roll back. If you're lucky your lost images take up less space than the set size limit.

If you're considering using recovery tools to undelete the data, do this first. This is all presuming your pc kept local copies.

With OneDrive on the IPhone there is an option to automatically upload photos that you take.  The IPhone stores new photos in its camera roll directory and this gets synchronised with Onedrive.

All of the other photos that would appear on the iPhone are stored on the PC that you have ITunes installed on - so in ITunes you need to select the photos that you want to download to your iPhone.  The photos that you download from iTunes to your iPhone are not sync'd from the phone to OneDrive.

Not sure if you want all of your photos in onedrive and onto the iPhone at the same time.
