I use and generally like Macrium Reflect Free. Recently however I'm not finding it reliable. I can do a system image then 1 day later a verify of the image will fail. That means I can mount it to get specific files out but I can't restore it. I've taken to using "verify" every time I create an image. Out of the dozen older images I have 1/3 also fail verify. When I copy images between disks sometimes they pass verification on the source disk but fail on the target disk. I can copy a few times and one image will usually work.
I'm thinking it might be something to do with my PC or that specific disk. I've started using W10, ReFS and a mirrored storage space with two 4TB HGST drives, and I have noticed in the logs a half dozen "fixed file corruption" type messages in the windows system logs. Unfortunately you can't have the Macrium boot disk write to a ReFS volume.
Has anyone else had problems with image integrity? Can anyone recommend how to diagnose the problem? Should I try something like Acronis True Image?
