I use and generally like Macrium Reflect Free. Recently however I'm not finding it reliable. I can do a system image then 1 day later a verify of the image will fail. That means I can mount it to get specific files out but I can't restore it. I've taken to using "verify" every time I create an image. Out of the dozen older images I have 1/3 also fail verify. When I copy images between disks sometimes they pass verification on the source disk but fail on the target disk. I can copy a few times and one image will usually work.

I'm thinking it might be something to do with my PC or that specific disk. I've started using W10, ReFS and a mirrored storage space with two 4TB HGST drives, and I have noticed in the logs a half dozen "fixed file corruption" type messages in the windows system logs. Unfortunately you can't have the Macrium boot disk write to a ReFS volume.

Has anyone else had problems with image integrity? Can anyone recommend how to diagnose the problem? Should I try something like Acronis True Image?

I haven't had any problems with any of my images but I'm not using Windows 10 or ReFS.

Have you checked the disk(s) health with something like http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html ?

Yeah I have that running, no SMART warnings. I wasn't using it with ReFS, just imaging a disk from their boot environment onto an NTFS disk.

Same here. No problems at all with the weekly image files or full and incremental backup files created by Reflect v5.
I have the image and backup jobs set up to run a full verification on the just created image and backup set immediately after the image and backup job have completed.

BTW Macrium Reflect v6 was released this week.

Free version still on v5. I wouldn't mind paying for the software, it generally works ok, other than multiple corrupt files.

Will use the free version for a while longer and see how it does.

Thanks guys.
