 o/s is XP I upgraded from ME to XP have a problem downloading updates message comes back says : The following updates could not be installed Windows installer 3.1.What do i need to do please help .

Try installing the Windows 3.1 installer.

Perhaps try installing one update at a time to see if there's a relation between the causing this problem?

Open Control Panel, Administrative, Services and see if Windows Installer is started...

I went into services then it showed status it did not show started then i started it Then i tryed to update once again then came up with the same old message cant be installed Sorry i dont know how to install each update.
