I'm having an issue with photos on my computer that has come right out of the blue.
I had some pics attached from a friend of her kids - and when I tried to open them I got a strange box telling me that Publisher could not open them. I dont use publisher for such things - usually opening JPEGS and the like with just a click - not having to select a program, or have a box with strange symbols that dont mean anything to me. I uninstalled PUBLISHER which has not helped at all - (havent reinstalled it yet either) but if I try to open one now I get a Microsoft Office Outlook box telling me THIS ACTION is only valid for products that are currently installed.

Any ideas please how I can disable this  Publisher thing happening - and get back to normal viewing pics in the files of the children on my computer, and opening ones people send me?
My calendars are coming to a standstill over this :)
any help much appreciated.

Cheers
MM

Do you know what program normally opened pictures for you to view them?

Do you have MS Office Picture Manager installed? It will be in your start menu, under Microsoft Office, in a another subfolder.

If so, open it, click tools, click file types, tick everything, and click okay. Your photos will open happily in that program now.

If not, try downloading and installing Irfanview or something like that. Anything that will re-grab the file associations should work easily for you.

Reinstall publisher too.

Is your antivirus and antispyware up to date, with full scans done in the last week?

I reinstalled publisher, and accidentally deleted and uninstalled that Office function you told me  may be there in the menu (in a vague momemt)- and it came good...not sure how - but i dont ask many Q's when it's working :)

Thanks again.....
