I just got a dell inspiron 1501 laptop and i got it with vista basic, but in the net it said i could get aero glass.

here are my specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-53 1.70 GHz
2Gb Ram
Vista Basic 32-bit operating system
Ati Radeon Xpress 1150

I tried updating my video driver and also tried looking for the WDDM driver but had no luck.
Any help is appreciated.

Your laptop most probably does have the specs to support Windows Aero - however you have unfortunately bought the wrong operating system. Windows Vista Home Basic does not include the Windows Aero desktop experience I'm afraid....

No Aero Glass for Vista Basic. Only the Vista Basic or Vista Standard (Aero without glass and some other effects)

o thanks
anyone know a way to make it transparent, like another program that doesn't have to deal with with aero?

There's a program thing called " true transperancy" which I beleive is a component of "Vista Inspirat 2"

google that and see how you go :)

final release versions of vista home basic CANNOT have transparency enabled ... rather no one has been able to hack it down so far anyway... even when they do in the future we should not discuss it as it would be illegal.

so don't even try as spending hours tweaking your machine you will never get transparency on home basic. :)
