im getting a new laptop (not related to my other post)

i want to access files in my pc - whats the best way to set up my pc windows 7 ultimate to allow it to almost act like a server for my laptop?

Have you not tried setting up a Windows 7 Homegroup? Basic file and Printer sharing without the hassle of creating a media server.
