So...I have just started using a Microsoft Surface Pro for work (just replaced my laptop).

My concern was that I may not have enough USB outlets for charging things and connecting things and all that kind of jazz....

After plugging in the USB cable for my keyboard/mouse this morning, I realised I needed to charge my smartwatch...what to do?

Easy - I have just discovered there is a spare USB slot on the power pack. What a simply brilliant idea!

Plug the surface into the power, plonk the power pack on the desk and plug any peripheral you might want to charge via USB directly into it.

How has nobody else managed to create a multi-use power dongle? Or have I been missing something all these years?

I know a simple fix is to get a USB hub, but this is a one-slot hub built right in. Brilliant!

Sounds pretty cool! Is that the Surface3?
I went looking for a picture of the adapter but gave up after a minute.
I did however find this interesting snippet on the Microsoft Store website:

Is the Surface Pro 3 hard drive an SSD (solid state drive) or HDD (hard disk drive)?

A: All Surface devices use an SSD. There are no physical hard drives in any Surface device.

Is "physical" really the right word here?

No this is a Surface Pro 2, I think (it's not new - just new to me).

It's a really good idea that should simple be implemented everywhere!

Yes in a way because they are differentiating between SSD vs HD - i.e. SSD is not a 'physical' Hard Drive. rather it is a 'flash based' drive

I bought one of those multi-plug power board things (a PowerTech one). It has 3 normal power plugs in it but also 2 USB slots for charging. I take it with me whenever I go travelling, NZ or overseas.
