I am really liking how Microsoft is releasing updates and fixes more frequently now. The only thing though is that last night's batch included a "June 2015 microcode update for Intel processors in Windows" that caused my GIGABYTE Brix (Windows 7, used as HTPC in the lounge) to enter a boot loop - interrupted only by recovery mode. Lucky it offered to go back to a previous restore point.

I tried installing this separately, twice, and it caused the same problem. No problems on my HP EliteBook or on a Windows 7 VM on a Xeon processor.

A Windows 7 VPC

For the time being I am hiding it. Anyone else seen this?

No, but MS patching has been so utterly horrible the last year or two nothing is a surprise.

I'm utterly convinced MS has actually forgotten what quality control is like in their patch testing lately. They need to find the right balance between getting patches out the door, and not having those patches break 6 other things. Plus when they do re-release a patch they need to stop @#$@ing re-releasing updates under same patch/revision.

Quite apart from all the screaming and yelling we've done about it at work via Premier Support in the last 12 months, Woody(an MS MVP who wrote most of the Windows For Dummies books) has been loudly bemoaning the state of patching to anyone who listens and now HP have gotten in on the act with a report that slates Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, Oracle etc for the state of patching in general.

Seems to be applicable only to:
"... Designated as a Intel Xeon or Intel Core family processor that is based on the "Penryn" or "Merom" codenamed processors. Has the Family, Model, and Stepping of family designations of 6, or a Model designation of 15, of 22, of 23, or of 29 ...." Ref: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2493989
