I've recently been playing around with full desktop apps on a windows tablet. Even with a small tablet seems to work fine if you use a stylus.

I've been able to get a few desktop games running even. Stuff like need for speed most wanted, dead syncronicity, far cry 2.

Obviously the games work better if you can use keyboard only, or are point and click. And so far, on the tablet I was playing with, there are quite a few that just seems incompatible with the hardware.

There's some cheap gaming brackets around that look worth the investment (Holds the tablet, controller buttons sit at either side of the tablet)

I also discovered gestureworks gameplay although I have not yet got around to playing with the demo, see if its worth the money.

Seems like there is a lot of potential for mobile gaming on windows - with the right software/peripherals and with a tablet that has a good compatibility.

What are you guys experience with gaming on a windows tablet? Like the surface pro series for example?

IIRC Civ 5 had really nice touchscreen support.

i plug my Xbox controller into my Surface and use that for gaming

also quite often use my Surface pen instead of a mouse on the couch

Playing through Fallout 3 on my i3 SP3, runs sweet at med settings, haven't tried it on any other settings. I also plug my Xbox One controller into the USB and use that to play. Im knda amazed it runs so well considering I first played Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360.

Yeah I have seen the surface three do some pretty impressive gaming. I'm looking forward to playing around with some m-core chipset tablets soon, see what I can get out of them.

Something truely laptop level in a handheld size would be kind of a dream.

I'm actually going to check that out. Not nearly enough games design in touch support, especially now tablets are catching up with laptops.

Play WOW on my Surface Pro 3 (the i7 top model tho). Dont raid but good for everything else and I have all my mods running and sync'd with home pc. Steam games seem to run fine as well. Because of passive cooling if I push it apparently you need to use a usb fan and aim at back. Not had to yet but my gaming requirements are not full on.

I brought the bluetooth mouse and Microsoft Universal Mobile keyboard (as can use with ios andoid and windows). Did not buy the clippy cover as too plastic for me.

I have played around with some games in straight tablet mode but since I threw dollars at the top model in the end using as a pc was more attractive. As a tablet for everything else tho its pretty great as well.
