Totally unrelated to Windows 10 upgrades, wait actually it is...
I have a Windows 8.1 x86 device that I want to upgrade to 10. The recovery partition is one of those compressed WIMboot things. Im trying to get a copy of the drivers that ship with the recovery image before I upgrade to 10 - the upgrade advisory said I wouldn't be able to restore to the original recovery image post 10 upgrade.
I've managed to extract install.wim from the recovery partition but because its a WIMboot file imagex wont recognise it.
I've also run the built in Windows "create recovery media" and I get spanned WIM files (ie install.swm1, install.swm2, install.swm3) on the USB drive. These are also not readable by imagex.
Ive checked my imagex against another image.wim file and it works fine so I suspect its becuase these are WIMboot based.
So, are there any options to get files out of a WIMboot WIM file?
