Tell me people, how is it, that in 2015, Microsoft can still manage to **** up IMAP mail access???

Please, can anybody tell me??

In the Windows 10 mail app, I can set up my account fine, and even get some email... in my inbox. But inbox is not the only folder I have. The mail app happily shows that I have other folders, and lets me select them. But trying to retrieve any actual emails from these folders gives me nothing, nada, zilch etc.

Lets not even mention Outlook 2013 and IMAP in the same sentence...

And here I had some hopes. The Windows 8.1 mail app on my Surface Pro 3 works perfectly fine. Could use a few more features perhaps, but it does work.

Sigh.. Back to Thinderbird. At least it retrieves all my mail.

(PS: If anyone has any IMAP tricks for the W10 mail app please let me know!)

Typical, as I start writing feedback, the emails start rolling in :p

Despite the fact I've tried several times beforehand to get this working.

Yep, I'll agree with you here. How they managed that I do not know...

I have Outlook 2013 installed as part of office 365, and I'm not using it because IMAP is broken :(

Try '/sfc scannow' in an elevated command prompt.

tried that but for some reason it says I am not the administrator. It seems sometimes I am and sometimes I aren't.

command is sfc /scannow (from google) says I need to be in console session ? What is that ?

Right click on the Windows logo and select 'Command prompt (admin)' that will open the console with admin rights.

In all seriousness I just don't know why people bother with Microsoft solutions for IMAP - the reality is they have never been any good. IMHO if you want working IMAP, look for other solutions.

I have a dislike for IMAP, but that's a very different issue..

I had no end of trouble with the mail app.
Ended up being my antivirus (bit defender) blocking emails coming in.
Uninstalled bitdefender and everything is great now.
