Hi

Have just attempted to upgrade to Windows 10, from Windows 7.

Install went fine. Once installed I noticed that my GPU driver was missing. Went to the Nvidia site and downloaded the latest drivers for my gtx 690. When I tried to install the driver I got an error, cannot install drivers the found new hardware dialog is open.

Then I restarted my PC and it would not boot correctly. Was running but no display.

I managed to roll back to Windows 7 for now.

Any Ideas?

I know NVidia released new drivers just (1 day) before Windows 10 was released.

Perhaps upgrade to those in Windows 7 and see how the upgrade goes again.

One machine here had the same initial problem (GPU driver missing), but the driver was one of the first things installed via the first round of windows updates post upgrade.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

open device manager, find your gpu from the display adapters, open it and click on the Driver tab. Uninstall the driver, reboot. Mine sorted itself after going to Windows update to find the driver, but Nvidia have also released Windows 10 drivers. I think it took a little bit where just the cursor was visible. Not too sure, left it sitting while I went out and when I came back to fix it everything was working correctly.

I've had the same issue with my Nvidia Geforce 650Ti driver after I upgraded from windows 8.1 to 10. This issue was resolved by choosing to do a custom install of the driver and tick "perform a clean installation" box. I guess some left over driver stuff from earlier windows was the cause of the problem.

When i first switched from 8.1 to 10, i also had issues with nvidia drivers.

trick to getting it going for me was to end task all of the running Nividia processes (there are a few still there) give it 5 mins, then run the installer again.

The whole time while doing this, windows update was trying to do its thing but kept failing to install nvidia drivers too (causing installer locks and such at the same time, which was a pain.)

If you can get to the window to install, go clean install all the way, and it will be as happy as can be!

The thing i found really odd about the upgrade process was the brief period in the update where it was "loading drivers", all my monitors became active, my actual primary was selected correctly and it looked like it was going to be as happy as can be....

I had a bit of weirdness with graphics drivers after installing W10 preview even with the latest drivers from AMD made specifically for it, A day or 2 later Windows Update updated the driver and it worked fine after that.

All seemed to be different variants of the same driver version however.

I had the same issue, the installer would not work either

reboot did fix mine after windows updates had been installed

Maybe suggest letting windows updates deal with drivers. I had that issue on few machines I've upgraded but windows update fix issue . Just strange it same software but for some reason the signing authority on NVidia site isn't been accepted.

I downloaded drivers direct from Nvidia for my 750TI.

Get lots of flickering in some UI elements...I'm sure it will be fixed soon enough though with a driver update.

My parents had an older machine that used the motherboard graphics. This suited them fine as they weren't gaming etc but it failed the Windows 10 upgrade check.
A quick check online sees this is a common issue, but it's applicable for the age of the machine I think too though.

I have managed to get windows 10 running. Windows update installed the drivers took two goes, but all working.

However I have another issue now. The computer now takes 6min to boot, that is about 4times slower than before.

Intel GMA3600 - which is SUPER common (almost all Atom 2 first gen Win8 tablets have it integrated) currently doesn't have drivers.

IntelSupport on Twitter has said drivers are on their way.
