Had a call from an older friend who had had her laptop stalled showing just a circle of dots for several hours after starting the win 10 upgrade from the windows icon on the lower right side of the screen.

I have not upgraded fro win 7 myself yet, so I decided to download the iso from: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
and try an upgrade from that. Her older Toshiba Satellite was on Win 7 and had downloaded all the upgrades. First I backed up her vital files and then started setup from the 64 bit DVD and was greeted by “Prippravuje” What the ??
Turns out its Czech! So just for interest I tried a 32 bit iso and got the wrong type of system message but at least in English this time.

So I returned home and Google d “Win 10 upgrade iso language problems” and found a passing mention about about problems with other than US English versions so I tried the Make Media routine again and burnt another copy of Win 10 64 bit iso and tried in my desktop win 7 machine. The result .......
Czech language again. I checked my language and region settings in win 7 and yes I am still in NZ. Then I tried the DVD in my wife’s PC and once again the instructions come in Czech.

I tried again, this time finding a windows 10 Single Language English 64 bit version download iso, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when once again the instructions come up in Czech.

Now getting somewhat desperate I ring microsoft for help and I am relieved when, after only 7 minutes or so, I actually get to talk to a human. However he quickly decides, after consulting someone else, to transfer me to the windows 10 team and after a few clicks I get the recorded message to wait and “Was I aware that I could upgrade to Windows 10 for free” and “What a great thing it is”, etc. and thank you for waiting. After being serenaded with this message and being thanked over a hundred times for waiting, (nearly 2 hours in total) a lady finally answers.

What an anti-climax. She informs me that I can not change the language because I haven’t activated Windows 10. ( I try to explain that I can not install it so there’s no way I could try to activate it. She then tells me I can not use the iso until I have an activation code and then that my windows 7 is not genuine and if I have a genuine win 7 the language with revert to English!

At this stage I just had to hang up.

Can anybody help Please? Nathan? I hope you are still about?

Wow, that post was really hard to read - the text isn't wrapping correctly for some reason.

At any rate, I know you've said that you'd downloaded a couple of different ISO images.  On this page (specifically):

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

when I try to select it, it steps me thru all the options for which variety of Windows (i.e. Windows 10, not "N" or "K"), and then specially which language.

Have you tried that page for the ISO?

I know I'm more-or-less telling you to do something again that you've already done; but if you step thru that way, you'll at least have had the satisfaction of selecting "English" from the drop-down!

Sorry about the formatting ( new poster) and thanks for the replies and the fixing.

I had already re-run and re-downloaded the 64 bit iso 3 times but did it again this time with my wife sitting alongside double checking every click.

Unfortunately  it also opens in Czech.  I guess I could perhaps start an export business sending Windows 10 DVDs to Czechoslovakia!
