According to Wikipedia:

It is actually a dynamic-link library file called shimgvw.dll; there is no executable file.

Do a search on Google for

    ShellExecute ShellExecuteForExplore

The function I use was "stolen" and modified from this function (there's a few copies floating around).

Basically, pass it the JPG or whatever and it will open in Picture Viewer.  Pass it an XLS and opens in Excel etc.

Basically, it's behaves the same as Start, Run.
