for some unknown reason an update to Windows defender was attempted by updates with the above error. It was all turned off and I am using Norton Internet Security. This promptly errored and had to be reloaded. A search on Google finds many similar problems but not simple answer. How can I easily fix this ?
Error is KB2267602 (Definition 1.213.113.0) - Error 0x80070643

No idea. Maybe try switch on defender reboot and run the update. If success then reboot and disable.

after searching Google and seeing  lots of people with similar problems I tried system restore. This failed but also did going back to normal. Options then were system refresh (reload) which was successful but loading all other programs was a mission.
