Has anybody installed Vista SP1 RC?

If so, what has your experience been? What's been good, and what wasn't?

I've been using SP1 RC2 for the last week. I have to say it it doesn't look on the surface like there have been any changes from Vista RTM but it just flys. It is so much faster, seems much more stable. Things like moving and copying files and working over a network have been much improved.

SP1 is going to be a must have for all users once released

Vista SP1 will not focus UI changes rather it looks more into compatability and other changes like in Network (copying files) etc., But after installing sure one can notice the speed difference in bootup, system. I am sure this is going to bring out good things about Vista.

I agree with the previous posts; booting up, opening programs and copying files work so much faster now. The computer in general feels much more responsive.

The only complaint I have is the installation time for SP1 - it took over an hour! But it was definitely worth it.

My Tecra A7 has been a lot more stable then pre-SP1.  I used to get regular explorer crashes and all the rest.  I rarely have a problem with crashes now, file transfers are much faster, network access is faster and more stable.  Shut down is still a bit lengthy but overall it's much better than before!

I have been using the Windows Update method. Excluding the download part install has always been 15-20minutes

For me excluding the download part install is maximum 1 hour. Not more than that for sure.

nice... smooth with the occasional hiccup... but still tacky... you would have thought with all the money they have they could have at least made an interface which was somewhat nice....

Geez the lag in Vista has become all the more noticeable since I bought a 2nd hand machine (AMD64 3000+ @ 2.0Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 128Mb graphics) with Windows XP SP2 on it. I know it's a fresh install but everything is instantaneous including the opening of folders with a large number of photo thumbnails in it.

Whereas Vista can show me the green loading bar for a long time randomly.

Grrr. I like Vista but it's much harder to like alongside XP.
