So are you trying to boot from a OS Installation CD?
You might want to enter the BIOS and allow the CD drive to have priority over the Hard Drive during the boot process.

For the 'right cd or not' question:
What CD do you have and what exactly are you trying to do? I won't know if it's the right one or not.

Yes i'm trying to boot from an OS Installation CD and i put that priority over the hard drive.
And i want to redo my whole pc from the start.  I don't really kno if im using the right
definition so im sry.

On the other hand, i have an old installation disk from my old pc which was a XP,
but when i tried it, my pc responds by saying
"these system recovery CDs do not support this HP pc model"

did you not get a xp recovery cd with your current computer? if you purchased it new you should have. if not i think you'll have to buy windows xp again as i don't think microsoft or your computer supplier will replace a missing xp recovery cd.

if you didn't get a recovery cd to begin with then that probably means all the stuff you will need (drivers, bios and utilities) for a reinstall will either be on a hidden partition on the hard drive or you will be able to download them off your computer manufacturers website. i recently reinstalled on my asus laptop and the 3rd recovery cd (drivers and utilities) was too scratched to work so i had to install windows serparately, then go to the asus website, download all the drivers and utilities and install them one by one. very tedious process. unfortunately in your case you will still need a copy of windows to install even if you do find all the stuff you need on the manufacturers website.

Some laptop manufacturers provide a utility within the system them to create the recovery CDs.

You should really check the manual / booklet. They will advise on how to recover your system.
