Backup/image your current system regardless. That way if anything did go wrong/missing, at least youve got a backup.

I honestly cant remember if Win 10 prompts for a partition selection to install on like Win 7 does.....

Installing Windows 10 would wipe/format the drive (Ubuntu will be removed), as you aren't running Windows 7/8 where you can upgrade an existing install.

Make a backup

If you sync chrome with a Google account, then your theme will be saved automatically (unless you turned this off for some reason)

Windows 10 will work without a product key, however there will be some cosmetic changes.

Something tells me that your desktop is a few years old...

If you have enough space it is possible to install 10 also and use the three operating systems independently. Short story see a professional and ask for a price. Don't expect change from $100 more or less.

ok - thanks all.

syncing done.  looks like it was on all along.
backed up files to google drive - didn't have much.
pc about 8 years old.
never learned how to use ubuntu so won't miss it.
product key came with software.

guess all that's left is to bite the bullet on just do it!

Do you have another OS to install if things go horribly wrong or do not meet expectation?

gzt: Do you have another OS to install if things go horribly wrong or do not meet expectation?

things did go horribly wrong lolz.  i thought i killed my pc and all i could do was keep trying to install win10 and mess around in the bios.

something worked eventually.  first mission was to download chrome - it worked for a few minutes and then crashed.  better go read the other threads for fixes.

to answer your question i still have my xp disc.

That's good. Bad luck there. Feel free to give the latest Linux Mint Mate a go:

It is pretty amazing just installs and runs on so many systems without any issues.

What are the specs of your machine?
