I have Office 365 Business and want to access the 24/7 support that it is supposed to have.

The NZ support numbers lead to a message saying they provide support only when they are at work M-F in office hours, which is not use to me when I have a problem now.

The US online chat can't or won't help and the US phone number is 1-800 which won't dial from my phone here and I cannot source a non 1-800 version.

Does anyone have a non-US number?

Or failing that, does anyone know the answer to my issue?

I need to approve my domains to work with Office. It requires me to enter TXT or MX records and to set TTL for those to 3600. My domain host won't allow the TTL to be set lower than 14400.

Is that an issue?

I'm pretty sure you can call 1-800 numbers free from Skype, have you given that a go?

I don't know but are you trying to set it to 3600 online? You could try calling your host and see if they can set it; mine doesn't allow txt records unless you call or email but they do it for you immediately via phone or email.

I could try that. I can do the records online, I just cannot set the TTL value low enough.

Wow. A TTL of 14400? That's very high. You can set it to 14400 with a TXT record on your DNS provider's end. Office 365 will still authenticate the domain as long as it's the correct TXT or MX record entry but not after 3600 seconds, it will be 14400 seconds. So no issues there.

ps - 1stDomains which I prefer allows for up to 5 minutes TTL minimum rather than 14400 seconds!

Do whatever you want to do man.

I would try it with the higher time to live (4 hours?) and see what happens. Once you have it working you could just email your domain provider and ask them to set it to the lower number as per MS instructions.

Also, when hitting the check button in the office domain setup, I found that I had to wait quite a while some time for the change to show up, other times it could be as fast as a couple of minutes.

The host is Bluehost. I checked and they do not permit anything lower than 14400. Unlike MS, they answer their support enquiries..!

Thanks though: I will set it at that.

MSO asks for the @ symbol to be used - there are already entries using it. Does that matter?

Nope the @ symbol usually means for default domain name

Setting the TTL as 14440 won't affect O365 domain authentication I have used this before. However if you make a change it may take a while for O365/to pick it up

A TTL of 14400 will not affect the setup of Office365, it will just take a little longer to propagate the changes when they are made.

No big deal.

Thanks - that did work, kinda! I got the call, but ended up passing through 4 sets of hands to get the answer, which you guys all got anyway - it did not matter.

Probably better if they phrased it better on the setup screen - "set to 3600 if possible but not essential" for example.
