The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is coming 2nd August 2016... Updates are always welcome - I haven't managed to install the latest releases on my test tablet yet (it's running an April release and no amount of "Check for updates" show anything new).

Questions I have:

  • I wonder if the VPN list in the Network icon will allow to connect to a VPN instead of taking you to another VPN list
  • All the talk about Windows 10 security improvements and I have a few questions:
  • Windows Hello data is now being stored inside the TPM 2.0. Will existing data be moved or need to re-enroll?
  • Microsoft is talking up Hardware based isolation with Virtualization Based Security (VBS).

    • Does VBS work for consumers or require enterprise device management tools?
    • If VBS works for consumers, does it require VT enabled in BIOS? I have been disabling VT in BIOS for years when not using Hyper-V to prevent any form of malware that could insert itself as a hypervisor layer.

Comments @nathan ?

Interested to know final size of this update if there are any clues on that.

What do you mean by final size? It is a full re-install of Windows just, like the November update was, although they have changed the look of the installer.

It's a Windows 10 Feature Update. Feature Updates are currently around ~3GB. They will get smaller, but that's in the future.

@freitasm There are ISOs available of build 14366, and there should be ones for 14372 soon since that has also released to the Slow ring, if you want to update your tablet that way :)

The answer to both of you is 'Probably' :D Especially if you re-installed programs that it said weren't compatible but actually are (like 8GadgetPack for desktop gadgets).

Please keep the feedback coming on this. But it needs to go into the Feedback Hub tool (or there as well)

I'm not aware of this on Windows 10 build to build Upgrades. Can you give a little more info on which app and which flighted builds you saw this on please.

For users on a cell dongle or phone spot, will W10 kind of magically know about it and wait for a lan connection? or does the connection need to be specifically marked by the user?

I am on the Fast ring and on every single build it has said that 8GadgetPack is incompatible and been removed, and then 8GadgetPack pops up a Windows asking if I want to Repair the installation, which I do, and after that all is well. I realise that MS no longer like Gadgets, but until you make something that does the same job I will continue to happily use them.

Thanks for the insight. I'm not familiar with that app, let me do some digging. Cheers for the feedback.

Cisco VPN Client got uninstalled with the big November update. Re-installed (with a bit of registry fiddling) and it works again.
