Hey Guys! Hey I just wanting to know if there was anyway to subscribe to microsofts beta testing program?

One of my work mates was saying that a friend of his has signed up to beta testing with microsoft and they send him software to check for any bugs and flaws and reports them for fixing,

I would love to do this myself as ive just finished upgrading my pc and I think it would be perfect for testing on :-)

any ideas? or links that I can sign up to?

Cheers

Microsoft Connect is where you want to go. Lookout for beta openings then and there. Some are strictly invitational and some are open to public.

connect.microsoft.com is the place to go. beta.microsoft.com is now discontinued.

Microsoft does't send software for you to test. You have to download it - some are small but Windows Vista or Windows Vista SP1 were in the gigabytes. It means you have to have a good broadband.

Also it's not yours to keep. The beta software expires.

And this is BETA. It means the software will have bugs and you will have to help investigate why it happened. It means following instructions.

And some are closed, meaning that if something goes wrong you can't come here in ask because you sign a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) that prevents you from revealing the secrets behind the test software.

And last, because it is BETA it means that sometimes you may lose data or having to reinstall multiple times. So better to do this on a spare computer, not your main PC.

Beta testing isn't all fun and games. You need to do certain tasks (like installing and uninstalling) over and over again.
