Hi all,

Our company are trying to buy some Windows 7, but we can't find it from any online store or even Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).

Anyone knows where we can buy it from? We want to use them to build our visualized Windows in VMware.

Regards

If you have an SA agreement with Microsoft, you should have Win 7 ISO downloads and keys in your VLSC account.

I certainly do, just built a machine that way this afternoon.

OEM is still available ... maybe there's a conversion process ...

I'd be intrigued to know how he's going to legitimately build a VMWare image from an OEM licensed copy that can only be sold with, and is permanently attached to, a specific piece of hardware :-P

Exactly! So I don't think we allow to build a VM with OEM license...

In theory retail sales anded 3 years ago and PC with Windows 7 sales end at the end of the month. Might be tricky to get a copy to do with as you wish if you can't use an OEM license.

Thank you for the reply.

So you mean we still can purchase Win7 license from VLSC? If so, do you know how?

Disclaimer: I'm no MS licensing specialist, this is my understanding as an IT professional.

You can't purchase individual copies, but if you have a Software Assurance / Enterprise Agreement , you should have downgrade rights for however many seats you are licensed for, and the company administrator for your open license should be able to login to VLSC and obtain both the keys and media.

*edit* you should talk to whatever MS Partner you normally purchase through (e.g. Datacom, Dimension Data, etc) and I'm sure they can assist you.

We have talked to Spark and Datacom, they replied to us saying M$ doesn't sell Win7 anymore, that is why I come here for helping...

Excuse me? Who are you? I was replying to Lias, not you, correct? Plus, I thought M$ is just short for Microsoft because it is so rich, what made you so aggressive? NATHAN@Microsoft?

Ask them about downgrade rights to Win7 .
can you downgrade 2x ( 10 to 8 to 7 ) ?

Thanks for the advise, but I don't think we will go through that path since we need to downgrade 60+ Windows if we want to do that.

That would be the guy who works for Microsoft who possibly could have answered your query but decided not to because you insulted his employer.

It pays to be nice on this forum, and everywhere else for that matter.

This outlines it pretty well.  From my cursory read through, you just buy W10, and install whatever version you need https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/learn-more/brief-downgrade-rights.aspx

Looks like they only provide downloads for 10 and 8.1 so you need to dig out whatever media you have for W7 or order a disk
