hey guys got a usb problem i need somehelp with.


my on board usb ports keep stopping working, i have to uninstall the driver and let it rediscover itself to get them working, any ideas? win 8.1 64bit pro

Wipe & reload? If that doesn't resolve I'd say you need to replace the motherboard.

What devices do you have on that port group?

Back ports and front ports? Both stop?

My 10cents worth:

 

I run lots of USB devices on my PC's.

 

Win7 very stable.

 

Win8 VERY Unstable - gave up!

 

Win10 Quite stable.

 

All hardware / drivers Win10 etc certified.

 

Win10 is getting there and is a hell of a lot better than Win8 but nowhere near Win7 for stability.

 

That is mine and others I know experience!

 

It MAY not be the motherboard.

there is the rear usbs that stop, top usbs are fine its the rear ones that are giving the issue. i uninstall that hub reboot and it finds it again and reinstalls the driver making it work again

What motherboard are you using 

 

Manufacturer : (ie Asus)

If you reboot without the uninstall - does it work again?

Also need a list of devices you are using on that port when the port dies.

Try disabling USB sleep in both Power Options and driver properties (Device Manager).

Update BIOS firmware if available.
