It's gonna take some getting used to. We just scored an Acer laptop for a hundred that has W10 installed. I'm trying to guess my way thru some of the settings. Our other Acer lappy has Win Vista so it's a few generations of Windows behind this one.

I've managed to hook it to our home network (I knew networking the whole house would pay off), install Chrome and configure a few things. I can't get file share with the older lappy to work. I wanted to copy the Chrome bookmarks from that one to this new one.

I eventually copied the HTML file containing the bookmarks using a flash drive. Crude, but at least it worked! Of course, if you make an alteration on one computer's favourites, it won't show on the other's. But it's better than having to create all of them over again.

Sign in to Chrome with your Google account and sync everything that way. Much simpler and remains updated.

Biggest hint for W10 is right click on Start button for Control Panel access. Everything else is easy as.

Whatever Windows you've come from, there are remnants of features from those in 10. But usually buried in hidden layers of settings. It's like a 90s house with a reclad but the insanely messy insides are still there.

you cant/dont actively share bookmarks over a network . The 'crude' way you did it is the CORRECT way to copy bookmarks from old to new laptop
You can share files etc , but can be a pain to setup with different versions of Win. First thing to do is turn off pass protected sharing . I usually disable homegroup service as well. Set share access to everyone, if that doesnt work , try guest, or have both laptops with the same login/pass
