I am setting up a NAS at home and the last stage of the setup requires going into the "map network drive" setting.

When I do this I get a dialogue box from Windows (10 by the way ) Security saying Enter Network Credentials.

Ummm.

I have tried a few combinations but in every case I get "The network password is not correct."

I have entered the password for the device I am trying to connect to ( Raspberry Pi ), the password for the wifi and the password for my windows login, no joy.

Is there a way to discover this password or reset it?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

if you are attaching TO a share on the remote device and prompted in windows. Don't forget to change the domain. Or it will use your PC as the source account (of which won't exist)

So would likely need to be nameofpi\pi <raspberry> or whatever changed to.

Alternate is make a user account on both with the same name and password so attachments either direction work :)

Yep, but let's say your Pi is called "raspberry"; when prompted for the username you should enter "raspberry\peejayw", not just "peejayw".

yep and you will need to provide details of an account with access, by default it would normally submit details based on your local machines accounts. So assuming SAMBA is setup right, you'll need to ensure its sending as remotemachine\accountname as displayed here..

I set up another user account on both and that worked but after all my hard work, when I access the drive attached to the Pi from Windows its says the folder is empty :-(

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

The account you created probably needs to be granted some more permissions on that folder.

your passwords for wifi or windows are not the password for the NAS. Windows is prompting your for the password of a user on the NAS that has access to the share on the NAS, which you'll need to have set up.
