before this update I could buy a Kobo ebook and select download and then save to download folder.  After this update on Kobo site I select book and download. When select download file I no longer get option to save to folder. Instead the book opens directly in Microsoft Edge and can read. There is no option to download the book.  I have tried different things but cant find the download button. Anyone know how to download it to folder.  This is drm free books.  In Windows 10 1607 didn't have this problem

While it is open in Edge, if you right click on the book, do you get an option to save or save as?

Maybe try ctrl + s once the eBook is open.

or Try a different browser.

Edge will be you default pdf viewer and its auto opening the file. Just do CTRL + S and it'll bring up the save dialogue.

sorry maybe wasn't clear. this is epub ebook.  If I open a pdf it does open in Edge and also you have an option to save. The epub reader in Edge doesn't give that option. Would be good if Edge allowed me to download rather than open it and give no option to save it then

oh yeah. Stupid me. forgot to check that again. I had set Adobe Digital Editions as default but maybe Edge has taken over again for some reason. Will check it in morning. Sometimes we forget the simple things.

good morning. I checked and Edge was set as default. Changed default to Adobe Digital Editions and went to Kobo site to download but alas it wont download and instead opens in Edge. Pity Edge doesn't then give option to save.  Will be a nuisance having to change browser to download epub books from kobo.  And yes Adobe Digital Editions is still set as default app

is there any reason you are not using Calibre, might solve your problems.

I do use calibre. But you have to download book from Kobo site to computer. Edge isn't allowing that and opens it instead.  Firefox and Internet Explorer and Edge before this update allowed that.  Reason I also use Adobe Digital Editions is because of drm. Once opened in Adobe Digital Editions I can then import drm free into calibre using Apprentice Alf tools.  Just happens these 2 books are drm free and Edge insists opening them and I cant save to hard drive

Edit to say just tried downloading a known drm enabled book from Kobo and no problem.  So just drm free epub Edge wont allow download and opens it. So wish Edge then had a save button if they insist on opening epub.

Use internet explorer, from memory it's still installed by default in w10 although edge is default.

Try searching for it from window search prompt.

yeah in post above I said Internet Explorer works fine still. Just a nuisance having to switch browser to download kobo book.  I have liked Edge but this latest update may make me go back to Firefox.  First world problems

Can you right-click on whatever you click to download the book and then go "Save As" instead?

No Kobo gives you option to Download as option so click that and then you get Download or Cancel right click does nothing.  If its DRM protected Edge lets you save it as normal. If its standard no drm then Edge opens it and wont let you download it

Yeah for me I have been using Edge since Windows 10 came out and it worked well. This update has broken it for me. Havent used Firefox since Windows 10 came out but this update will make me go back to Firefox.  Firefox here I come
