So I set my IP address to (say) 192.168.1.5 to access Plex on 192.168.1.5:32400/web/index.html

Some time later, perhaps a reboot, the IP address has changed and the setting has been re-set to 'Obtain an IP address automatically'.

How do I get it to 'stick' to 192.168.1.5?

I have a Spark HG630b Home Gateway.

PC: Dell Inspiron 16 5640 (Windows 11 Home), Dell Inspiron 7591 2n1 (Windows 11 Pro), HP ProBook 470G1 (Windows 10 Pro), Intel NUC7I5BNH (Zorin)

You can set a static IP on Windows:

Or on your router look for "DHCP reservation" / "Create Static Address".

If Plex is on the same PC your accessing it from (which sounds like the case), you should be able to just use

http://localhost:32400/web/index.html

Then the IP doesn't matter.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Can you explain more about why you want a static IP address?

Is it for remote access port forwarding?

If it is only web access anywhere within your own network that should be ok with a dynamic IP address and http://[yourplexcomputername]:32400/web/index.html.

Well spotted.

I had the Vigor 130 in bridge to the ERL3.

But I had a frequent issue with losing internet connectivity several times a day, each period could be 30 seconds to a few minutes. I did a lot of searching, but not being a networking geek, did not find a solution (that I understood).

In frustration I put back the HG630b. In hindsight, I am not sure whether the problem was because of the two boxes, because soon after, I changed my primary powerline box ( to D-Link 701) attached to the router and I don't remember the last time I had an issue. I have a mixture of powerline boxes. TP-Links, D-Link 4 ports and the two D-Link 701's. All coexist quite happily.

I have been meaning to put the ERL3 back, just haven't got round to it.

True, but I wanted to access the Plex Server from a couple of PC's to setup DVR recordings.

I will check out what I can do on the router.

If your Windows network settings keep defaulting back to DHCP then perhaps some software you have is making the change or more likely your settings or driver have become corrupted.

You can try downloading the latest driver for your network controller, then doing a re-install.

Otherwise setting a static IP from the router will also work.

As @gst says you should also be able to access it from other Windows-based devices using your "computer name": http://[yourplexcomputername]:32400/web/index.html
