I have an Office 2007 Word document and I used Visio 2007 to draw some of the diagrams I use and paste in the document. Here is how it looks in the normal Office 2007 Word,

And then I am saving this as a PDF using the Office 2007 Save as Pdf plugin, and all the images become ugly. Here is how it looks in the PDF

Anybody know whats going wrong here with the PDF conversion? Is there any other *free* tool that I can use to convert Word 2007 to PDF

I use pdf995, a printer driver. The free version will open their website every document you print. I bought a copy because it's really good.

Maybe you can convert your Visio diagram to a picture (but Office degrades it to the extreme though)

I am trying out pdf995 now and if it doesnt come out good, I would have to try converting each Visio diagram to a picture and try. I am not sure how that would make a difference.

What picture format would be good - jpg or png? I dont mind size, I need the good output though.

If you try and use Office to convert diagrams to pictures both JPG and PNG are bad as Microsoft has bundled a very poor converter.

But - PNG should be better (better try all of them... one might be better than another).

The reason why converting them to pictures is better is that Office doesn't then save the PDF with actual objects, which I have discovered to be very poorly saved. I usually convert any Office diagrams to a picture before saving.

All my images look perfect now with pdf995. Dumping Office 2007 Save as PDF plugin

doPDF is what I use - like pdf995 (which I've used in the past) it has a printer driver, but freeware.
