No, mine, windows 2012 r2 has 5 updates and they’re all dated today, yesterday

This happens to me when I install older software. Then the next update cycle has got "newly available" patches released years ago. As an example, installing MS Office 2010 on a new PC this year (2017).

 

It might pay to check your Programs and Features installation history.

Will wait for tonight's VM backup then install just the most recent one for each and see how it goes.

Yes. At the end I selected only the newest of each update and installed. After restarting and checking again, Windows Update showed the old updates still. Applied all of them anyway, restarted and working fine.

 

Go figure...
