Just went to rip a CD and can't find WMP on my Win10 PC anywhere.

Is it no longer part of win10?

thanks guys, but been there and done all of that.

I think it is gone.

Will I have to reinstall Windows to get it back?

Does C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe exist?

Did you read my link? It shows how to install if it's not there.

@blakamin , I read the link very carefully.

The download and install instructions are for if you are running N, K, or KN versions of Windows which I am not. Will it matter do you think?

Won't matter at all... If it's not there, it *should* install it.

If you're just using it to rip a CD I would recommend going via another route and rip it into FLAC.

VLC can do CD ripping, Winamp, Foobar2000 etc. Windows Media Player has been removed from Windows 10 now and is unsupported so best to use an alternative.

If the folder in Program Files doesn't exist then you might need to install the Media Feature Pack

But as above consider alternatives such as VLC etc.. I don't think they have removed WMP from Windows 10 just yet but it will be eventually along with Internet Explorer etc.. (I would expect perhaps some time post-Windows 7 end of support)

We are aware of and investigating a bug in a Windows Insider build that is preventing access to Windows Media Player. We do not have plans to remove the Windows Media Player from Windows 10.

Ahh! Sorry, I do run Linux. Just remember seeing it on Hacker News some time ago. I stand corrected!

I do have VLC, did not know it could rip CD's.

I do have an Insider Build so that may explain why WMP has gone AWOL.

I realise hardly anyone rips CD's any more, but I don't belong to any music streaming things.

I tried this, under Add a Feature, I have nothing.

But under See Optional Feature History it says WMP was successfully installed on Oct 22, 2017.

I'm now quite curious as to why it has disappeared.
