I have just completed an update on an older Toshiba machine that was upgraded from windows 7 to the free windows 10 upgrade some time ago. At the completion of the update, and at some stage in the reboot I got the blue screen with the Error code: 0xc000000f.  No Window 10 discs or memory drives exist as it was a free upgrade, and I am locked out by the blue screen from creating a back up memory stick from any imbedded recovery files that may have come with the original upgrade.  All roads seem to lead back to the blue screen without a recovery disc of stick.  Ideas please - could an alternative win 10 backup memory stick allow the Toshiba to recognise its own files and repair them without affecting either licenses?

The fix could be as simple as the hard drive controller resetting from IDE to AHCI. You can change it back by going into the BIOS setup program. Had this happen a while ago on a 2008 Vista vintage Toshiba laptop that must've had a flat battery.

Pretty sure if you go to this site you can download an image and make a disk/USB.

It should let you boot to the disk/USB and then let you repair - if thats the problem.

Run that link on another PC and it gives you an option to download the image builder tool.

It lets you choose what sort of image you want ("Installation media(USB flash drive etc) for another PC")
