I run a Laptop with Vista Ultimate that uses a SBS2003 as its domain controller and Exchange Server.  I use the Windows Update services on the Server to keep the five clients up to date.

I have an application on my Laptop that integrates with Outlook and requires SQL Server 2005 Express.

Last night the updates ran.  One of the updates was KB948109 - Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2.

This update failed and the SQL database is now not running, nor will it start using Services.  As a consequence, Outlook won't start.

Has anyone else suffered this way?
