No, they don't say what that design feature is.

My number one - restore my desktop environment after a compulsory reboot for updates or installation.

I didn't say it would be easy!

The best new feature would be a freeze on new features for 2 years. For next 2 years only put out fixes and security updates.

(To be honest the only scenario I can see where I would be using Windows 10 would be if I bought a new motherboard & then found it had some big problems in running Linux. And if that happened I would have myself to blame for lazy research.)

Microsoft provide Windows 10 LTSB for that purpose with 10 yes 10 years of windows update. New LTSB is released every 6 months to a year approx if you want to upgrade optionally. Available only from some vendors. MS is not keen to promote it apparently. If this had been easily available to me at release I might have bought a desktop. But tbh I could never wait for the next feature set in practice and there would always be things available only for latest from consumer pov.

Edit: The W10Pro 'defer feature updates' option is keeping me happy for the most part. That gives some extra time for ISVS/drivers to catch up. There are still things that bother me like hyper-v updates coming along with the feature upgrades, but mostly happy.

Fix display scaling for everything, properly, once & for all.

Allow me full fine grained control over updates. I gave Microsoft a chance and brought into the new update model, but after these years its clear it doesn't work.

Windows 10 LTSC (Previously called LTSB) has never been intended for general use. It is intended for single use implementations such ATMs or systems that have Manufacturing / Medical hardware attached that get setup and never changed for the next 10 years.

You don't see Microsoft actively promoting LTSC as it requires a Windows 10 Enterprise license which consumers are not eligible for and at its core it's a version of Windows Embedded.

I was unaware of the rename. This is new obviously: "From January 2020, Microsoft Office 365 will not be supported on LTSC". That will count out LTSB/LTSC as a desktop, as intended.

fresh install, start menu blank. every time i do an install i have to go and uninstall/unpin so many stupid apps.
