Hi all,

I've just purchased a slighter bigger monitor than the previous one I had. It is a Philips Brilliance 220BW 9CB/75

It is working but not correctly as I can't find the drivers for it anywhere...... and Windows 10 and my graphics card are still showing my old monitor as being plugged in.... even though it is not plugged in. I'm assuming Win 10 and the graphics card are showing the old monitor because I don't have drivers for this newer Philips one???

Can anyone help please as the way it is I won't be able to use it as it is mucking my eyes up something awful. It says the best resolution for it to be at is 1680 x 1050 @60Hz but I can't do that as it's showing the old monitor which is 1400x 900. I've been in the Device Manager etc but nothing has helped.

Try opening Device Manager, expand "Monitors", left click on any monitors under "Monitors" and hit the delete key on your keyboard, click Uninstall on the popup, then once no monitors are left, open the action menu and select "Scan for hardware changes"

Did all that, hasn't worked. When I did the scan for hardware changes it found 'Generic PnP Monitor'. When I clicked to try to change the resolution settings it was again showing my old one which is a HP w1907 Wide LCD (even though I had deleted the drivers etc for it).

It's crazy as in Device Manager it says a PnP monitor is there. When I look in the general "Settings" page from Win 10 and go to "Advanced Display Settings" it says HP w1907 display 1 connected to Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050. But that is wrong. The HP monitor is sitting on my sofa! I've gone through the Nvidia menu too and can't see how to up date it there either.

UPDATE:

I fixed it. I found out there was an update for my graphics card. I downloaded that and installed it and now the screen is working as it should and the computer is recognising this new monitor. Phew!

Was going to suggest this.

I had a forehead-slap moment when I was trying to figure out why the 2k BenQ monitor I have was capping at 1080 and wouldn't go to max-rez even though HDMI was plugged in. Went to swap the cable and found the other end was DVI.
