Hi
Dell notebook, upgraded from 7 to Win10
So its running Win 10 1803

Tried to update to v1903

It comes back with
"Windows 10 will not run on this PC" "The bios is not supported"
This laptop IS running 10 and has been for a while

Anyone one know what in the bios will be triggering this ?

Have you checked that you're on the latest version of the BIOS for your particular machine? What's it's service tag?

I've seen this with a few Inspiron laptops and there is generally an update available.

Yes, an update fixed the issue. Im updating to 1903 now.

Just wondering how the bios could be compatible with v1803 (1803 installed OK) & not with 1903
weird

Yeah, I'm unsure what exactly Windows is looking at when it gives that message. I doubt it's technically not compatible but it would be nice to know what is changed with the update that Windows will now update.

Yes, It was a Dell  :-)

4+ hours to update from 1803 to 1903 , holly crap thats a long time . And on fibre so download speed wasnt the cause
Lucky I didnt need to use , it slowed to a crawl during that time.

I noticed it took a while on my compute stick.

Generally it's the OEM drivers that hold up compatibility but don't quote me. Symantec Endpoint also blocked updates/upgrades in the past.
