Win 10 has a built-in data usage feature … shows data from internet on both Ethernet and wifi networks.
Where does Win10 get this data from? Presumably it interrogates the router involved?

The data as it goes through your wifi or Ethernet adapters
CPU: AMD 5900x | RAM: GSKILL Trident Z Neo RGB F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC-32-GB | MB: Asus X570-E | GFX: EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3080Ti| Monitor: LG 27GL850-B 2560x1440

it doesn't interrogate your router, it gets if from the computers network adapters
No smoke and mirrors.
Logs Netstat -e / Get-NetAdapterStatistics :)
Thanks for replies … so it only reports specifically about a single device?
What I mean is does the data usage figure shown, for example, on my desktop, also include any other device usage connected to the router (ethernet or wifi)?
It has no idea what router it has connected, nor other clients.
So no.
It is to the device running W10.
only the device you are on
