Hi

I was away for the weekend.  Used HP laptop to upload and process photos, and connected using mobile hotspot, as no Wifi.  Had difficut doing this, so another tried bluetooth.  Got the photos up loaded, but wireless USB mouse stopped working, and now both USB ports and SC card port not working.

Have read some tutorials about the mouse which didn't work, but it is the USB ports.

Any help much appreciated.  The laptop is only about two months old, so still under warranty, but it might something I did, I suppose.

SOLVED!

Remembered that I had changed default browser to Firefox, and changed some defults, so went back and changed to Edge, remembering that M$ doesn't like us using other software.  I'll still use Firefow, just won't change the deafults :-)

Do the USB ports appear in Device Manager?

If they do have unplugged everything and restarted the computer?

Have you tried turning Bluetooth off?

I looked at those sorts of solutions, then remembered I had changed default browser to Firefox, and altered some defaults.  Changed it back, and voila!  Everything works again :-)

You are saying you changed the default browser and USB stopped working?

That's how it seems.  I originally thought it might because I attempted, and eventually suceeded in connecting hot spot via cell, or connecting via bluetooth.

But restoring defaults in browser fixed it ........

Seems very weird, but I am no geek, but it worked.  I don't know what to think,

cant see how that would cause it, seems very coincidental. something else is likely the issue
