On the PC in the junkroom I have an old rather lame TV as a screen. Its native resolution is 1366x768. Untill sometime earlier this year (not when I did the hardware upgrades to an i3 8100, it was a windows update that did it) it started to output 1080p with the chosen resolution streteched up into that, and the TV then scales it back down and as a result everything is looking a bit crap and blurry on it.
If I go into the intel UHD graphics control stuff I can choose to not scale, and I thought yay, this will fix it. But it doesnt. I just get a small image in the middle of a whole lot of black as it puts my chosen resolution into the middle of a 1080p area, which the TV still scales down so even worse than when it gets scaled up to 1080p.
This used to work, I am somewhat suspect that it may be the HDMI matrix switch it goes thru or something else making it not see the actual resolution of the TV, but in the past setting 1366x768 got me exactly that out the HDMI port and into the TV with nice sharp giant pixels.
Anyone had this happen before? Know a solution? Otherwise its probably easier to just get another TV, but even these days finding 1080 on a small screen is hard to do.
