If yo are doing something wrong, so am I.

It also doesn't matter if I use Ctrl+Insert or Ctrl+V

Rant: It's a pity less & less apps support [Shift|Ctrl]+Insert. With a mouse in the left hand, the +Insert option is a lot easier.

Same problem on my computer.
Haven’t tried to figure out why yet.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

I could live with having to copy things twice but it seems in my case it can take 5+ attempts to get a successful copy at times, it drives me nuts.

Windows 10 on 2 different PCs, I'm unsure if it's specific to Chrome but it's the only program I recall having issues with.
Ctrl+C or right click and copy, both have the same issue.
It doesn't seem to matter what I'm pasting to, notepad, outlook, another Chrome window etc.

On my work machine (Win 7), it's not related to the number of times I copy, but rather how long I wait before pasting.

Copy - Paste - Old text appears - Wait a few seconds - Paste again - New text appears.

I can't think which apps I see this in offhand, but I don't have Chrome on the machine so it's not that!

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

That last post was really helpful: cogent analysis; a clearly implied solution. (Sarcasm) But little help if you want to keep Chrome and Windows.

Maybe one of these ideas will hit paydirt. I expect that other software is interfering with the clipboard:

Create another Windows user account and see if that user has the same problem:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/copy-and-past-do-not-work-at-all/1e653570-f22a-41e9-bd3d-7f59de221c19?auth=1

Is clipboard history turned on? Use Windows+V to see. If it is not enabled you should see "Can't show history".
Do you sync clipboard history across more than one device?
Try the opposite of what you've currently got set and see if it helps. With the history showing you should be able to see more clearly what is happening.

Is your antivirus software interfering with it?
Some antivirus software monitors the clipboard.
Disable your antivirus - you can also disconnect from the Internet to preserve your safety - and see if the clipboard works better

Do you share clipboard with a VM manager?

Do you run a keyboard logger or shortcut manager?

Have you got features like click to call where you select a phone number or username and send a message or make a audio/video call? Particularly if you have such addons in Google Chrome.
Try disabling such features or plug-ins

Try turning off Bluetooth if it is on.
In Windows Explorer (the file manager), if you right-click on a file is "Send to Bluetooth" an option?

Are you using remote access/desktop software which might interfere?
In Task Manager, can you see if RDPClip.exe (RDP Clipboard Monitor) is running? i.e. remote desktop has been enabled

I think I have seen this, have you tried multi-clip board, goto setting type Clipboard and turn on history - then use as per normal or windows key V to selected past.

    1. Sorry, happens on different machines with different OS's

  2. Is clipboard history turned on? Use Windows+V to see. If it is not enabled you should see "Can't show history".

    1. Not turned on, was not available on Windows 7

  3. Is your antivirus software interfering with it?
Some antivirus software monitors the clipboard. Disable your antivirus - you can also disconnect from the Internet to preserve your safety - and see if the clipboard works better

    1. Windows Defender, Avast, AVG,

  4. Do you share clipboard with a VM manager?

    1. Sometimes

  5. Do you run a keyboard logger or shortcut manager?

    1. No

  6. Have you got features like click to call where you select a phone number or username and send a message or make a audio/video call? Particularly if you have such addons in Google Chrome. Try disabling such features or plug-ins

  7. Try turning off Bluetooth if it is on. In Windows Explorer (the file manager), if you right-click on a file is "Send to Bluetooth" an option?

    1. Also happens on Desktops

  8. Are you using remote access/desktop software which might interfere? In Task Manager, can you see if RDPClip.exe (RDP Clipboard Monitor) is running? i.e. remote desktop has been enabled

    1. Yes. RDP, TeamViewer, AnyDesk. RDP is the one common amongst all of these.

Oh, I can't help with Windows 7.

I've seen more than one solution posited for this problem but I really don't know if they work because I can't reproduce the problem in the first place. That is probably because I dont have Windows 7.

It may be you arent actually copying txt from chrome , even though it looks like that

Sometimes , when I have these issues, I copy & paste into notepad . If it wont paste into notepad chances are it either wasnt txt or it wasnt copied
Occasionally , just pasting into notepad first makes a difference .

PureText is a tiny tray utility that removes all text formatting from your clipboard and optionally pastes the resulting pure text to the active window with a single hotkey.
