Hi Team

Have a query about Netflix putting a second screen into power save while the Browser is logged in, or the Win Netflix app is open.  Hoping its a tick box option i have overlooked.

System is Win10 (64), Browser is Chrome.

Setup is through a Dell dock with USB-C connection to laptop.  Laptop screen stays on

All are the same Res (1920x1080) and Refresh (60Hz)

Any thoughts on where else to check for configuration, there's nothing in Advanced within Display settings.

Maybe just change the windows power and sleep options? Right click the start button, choose power, see what the screen is set to do

Have set to never sleep, performance to high and screens to never turn off.

Its odd, as soon as the app or browser is on netflix, the second screen goes into power save...

That is odd, never did anything special on mine and it doesn't do that. I often start Netflix on one screen and game on the other. I do have an issue where some apps/ games minimise netflix and pause it when launched when using the app but a bit of alt tabbing sorts that out

Its got me confused, as soon as you close the app or browser tab that has netflix, the other monitor comes out of power save.

Not sure where else to be looking for the setting or trigger for it

I don’t know if it’s a setting or a side effect of drm that netflix initiates not playing nicely with usb display devices eg. It’s a non-hdcp compliant display so something is turning it off while it’s running.

Easy way to test is try another streaming service with the same drm usage like amazon video or disney plus

Edit: or plug in the monitor directly to laptop.

That's a very good point, one I'd not considered!

Gave it a go with Sky, same thing! Think you might be onto it there SpartanVXL

Yea a bit of research suggests that dell usb c dock don’t officially support hdcp, which doesn’t stop netflix playing the screens but may lower video quality.

I would test if you can, directly plugging in the monitor to laptop if you have hdmi connections available. I don’t think displayport ever got hdcp compliance.

Seems a bit inane but you could say that about most of the whole drm stuff that comes up.
